Black Sox Memorial Sculpture Project - Meet the Artists Community Event & Showcase

Thank you for joining us on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 6:00pm (hybrid) for an evening introducing the shortlisted artists for the Black Sox Memorial Sculpture Project (BSSP). In-person location: City Garage, 101 W. Dickman Street, Baltimore, MD 21230.

This project will create a public memorial honoring the legacy of the Baltimore Black Sox historic Negro Leagues baseball team. The sculpture will be located in the future Westport & Smith Cove Waterfront Park as part of the broader Reimagine Middle Branch initiative. Learn more about the BSSP on the Baltimore Black Sox Memorial page.

After reviewing submissions from artists, the project team has selected six finalists whose concepts will help shape this tribute to the players and community that helped defined this important chapter of Baltimore’s history. At this event, people heard directly from the shortlisted artists about their vision for the Memorial and their artistic approach to honoring the Baltimore Black Sox through public art.
