"The Boys and Girls Club introduced me to rowing at the Middle Branch, which is fun and new to me. I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to get involved with the sport otherwise. I wouldn’t even know it existed. My proudest moment on the water was just now when I was chosen as a boat leader. It feels good to feel the sun and have the wind blowing on my face. I learned how to swim when I was in a program when I was 10 or 11 and we went to the YMCA. It was hard at first but the other kids all knew how to swim. They encouraged me to take the swim test. I tried and failed so many times but eventually passed.

I live in O’Donnell Heights, and I’ve made a lot of friends there. People there respect each other and help each other out. If I could change something about my area, I would want to renovate the buildings and create a park. There’s a whole large area of land that’s grassy and it feels like it’s being wasted when it could be a park where people could hang out, walk their dogs and stuff like that."
