Middle Branch Birding & Nature Tours
Join Ralinda Wimbush from Women of Color Outdoors (WOCO) Hike & Sound Healing and Kojo Baidoo (@ kojobirder) for a nature experience along the Middle Branch of the Patapsco River shoreline.
Together, participants will explore the Middle Branch shoreline through birding, environmental education, community science, and mindful nature observation. Along the way, participants will discuss the relationship between South Baltimore communities and their waterfront, explore how the shoreline is changing through ecological restoration, and learn how trees, wetlands, birds, and healthy habitats contribute to a more resilient Baltimore.
Sign up today for the first tour on Sunday, September 20,2026 from 9:30–11:30AM at Middle Branch Park. This is a free event but please register.
What to expect
Kojo will guide participants in observing resident and migratory species such as herons, egrets, osprey, cormorants, gulls, ducks, and songbirds while learning how birds respond to changes in habitat. WOCO will guide participants in exploring the environment through self-observations and reflection to connect changes in the environment with everyday experience.
Tours are free and open to all and welcoming to families, children, first-time birders, avid birders, nature lovers, and anyone interested in Baltimore's environment. No previous birding or environmental experience is required.
About Ralinda Wimbush, WOCO
Ralinda is the Founder of Women of Color Outdoors (WOCO) Hike & Sound Healing is profoundly passionate about eco-education, nature adventures, and effecting visible change within communities. Her primary focus is on restoring the symbiotic relationship between humans and their environment by fostering trust, engagement, and physical and spiritual wellbeing awareness among community members and stakeholders through nature based excursions and unique outdoor experiences.

About Kojo Baidoo
Kojo has had a passion for nature and the environment for as long as he can remember. After reading a book about birds of prey in the first grade and seeking out as many more field guides as he could find in the library, he developed a fascination with birds and never looked back. More than anything, Kojo loves sharing his passion for birds with others, both in-person and online (@kojobirder on Instagram and TikTok, Kojo Baidoo on Facebook). Over the years, he has come to appreciate each and every species he sees, and his list of favorite birds grows with every minute he spends outside.
